Abstract

Jatropha [Jatropha curcas L. (Euphorbiaceae)] has raised much interest in recent years, because biodiesel can be produced from the oil extracted from its seeds. Despite the toxic properties of the plant, and its alleged resistance, there are reports of pest organisms throughout the world, which damage different parts of the plant; therefore, a literature review was carried out about the main pest organisms that damage J. curcas. The information presented includes data about geographical distribution, parts of the plant damaged, and damage estimation.
