Abstract
Due to the recent introduction and cultivation of jackfruit in Mexico, agronomic information regarding associated pests is still limited. To contribute to the agronomic knowledge of this crop, specifically the associated insects and mites, a detailed and updated review of these in phytophagous association in all the places where jackfruit is grown is presented. Technical reports, articles, databases, full texts in Science Direct and Scopus and other specialized catalogs were reviewed. There are 81 species of insects and one species of mite for Artocarpus heterophyllus in all the places where it is grown. 48.3% of the species damage the foliage, followed by those that infest the shoots with 26.3%, those that feed on the fruit with 14.4% and those species that damage the branches with 11.0%. The greatest presence is in Asian countries such as India, the Philippines and Bangladesh where the main pest is shoot and fruit borer Deaphania caesalis. It infests an average of 27% of the fruits in Bangladesh and 30 to 40% of the plants in India. In Mexico, the main pest is the branch borer Neoptychodes trilineatus that infests up to 84.7% of trees
