Abstract
Environmental legislation should guaranty, to the population, the rigth to live in a clean environment. Moreover it should protect natural resources and the functions of the ecosystems. A topic involving great importance is pollution of the soils by potentially toxic elements. Mexican environmental legislation is a complex system and hard to understand for any people do not involve in the legal system. The aim of this manuscript is to describe some constrains and basis for understanding this legal system. In addition, it could show to the law makers the emergent techniques for soil remediation such as phytoremediation. Some options for improving the law systems are described.
